The latest improvements to Choosebox. We ship often — here’s what’s changed recently.

A page for your box, with no theme editing
- Every live box now has its own page. It sits at /apps/choosebox/build on your own store. To add it to your store menu, go to Content → Menus in your Shopify admin, add a menu item, and paste that path into the Link field. Open any box in the app and there is a Copy path button for it, next to a Copy link button with the full address for emails and ads.
- Nothing to add to your theme. The page is drawn inside your own theme, so it arrives with your header, footer, fonts and colours already on it. If you would rather have the builder sitting inside a product page, the theme block still does that and has not changed.
- More than one box live? Shoppers choose first. The plain link shows a card for each live box with its picture, its name and how many items it takes. With a single live box it goes straight to the builder instead. Adding ?id= and a box ID always targets one particular box, whatever else is live.
- The page follows your store’s colours. The buttons, the progress bar and the quantity badges take your theme’s own text colour rather than Choosebox blue, so the builder reads as part of your shop.
- An Appearance section on every box. Accent, text, card background, card border and button text colours, corner roundness, border width, overall width, the add-to-cart wording and a Custom CSS field. Leave a colour cleared and it follows your theme, which is still the default.
- Six layout presets. Default, Minimal, Compact, Rounded, Sharp and Wide, each setting roundness, border width and width in one click. They deliberately do not touch colour: the builder is meant to take your store’s colours, and a preset that painted it something else would undo that on most themes.
- One appearance, both places. What you set on the box applies to its own page and to the theme block. Anything you have already set in the theme editor still wins on that block, so nothing you have styled by hand changes.
- Gift messages. Switch it on per box and shoppers get a message field while they build. You choose the wording, the placeholder and how long a message can be, and whether it is required. Off by default.
- Run as many boxes live as you like, on every plan. The Free plan used to allow one live box at a time. That limit is gone.
- Plans now count box sales, not box orders. Free covers up to $500 of box sales a month, and only the box lines count, never the rest of an order. Twenty-five orders meant something different to a candle shop than to a cake shop; a dollar figure does not.
- Two new tiers above Starter, for shops that outgrow it, and support from the person who builds Choosebox rather than a queue.
- Boxes can be split into steps. Name each screen, say how many items it takes, and choose which products appear on it. Shoppers move through them in order with a progress trail along the top. Good for a bigger box where one long grid is a wall.
- Off unless you turn it on. Every box you already have keeps the single grid, which is still the right answer for a small box. Steps are available when you pick products by hand; a collection changes on its own, so pinning products to screens would quietly lose them.
- You can see whether it is working. A Last 30 days card on the home screen counts builder loads, boxes added to cart and orders containing a box, with the two rates between them. Every box also shows its own numbers in its editor.
- The rates are the point. A box that loads plenty and never reaches the cart has a different problem from one nobody ever sees, and the two needed telling apart.
- Every word in the builder can be changed. Open a box and expand Storefront wording. Seventeen fields covering the prompts, the buttons, the sold-out label, the discount tag and every message a shopper can hit. Leave one empty and it keeps the English. This is on every plan, because a store that cannot read the builder cannot use it at all.
- Numbers stay in place when you translate. Curly brackets such as {n} are filled in for you, so “Pick {n} more” works in any word order.
- The message prints. It is attached to the box line as a line item property, not to the order, because Shopify’s built-in packing slip shows line item properties and does not show order attributes. It appears under your own wording, so a florist who calls it “Card message” gets that on the slip.

Saving that follows you down the page
- A box now saves from Shopify’s own save bar. It appears at the top of the screen the moment you change something and stays there as you scroll, so Save is never out of reach on a long box. The old Save button at the bottom is gone, because two Save buttons on one page is one too many. Shopify also warns you now if you navigate away using its own menu, which nothing inside the app could catch before. Cancel and Delete stay where they were.
- Discard sits next to Save. It puts every field back to what is currently saved, including your products, pricing and item limits. Nothing to confirm, and the page does not reload.
- Hidden container products are no longer offered as items. Every live box creates a hidden product so it can check out as one line, and those were turning up in the product picker and inside boxes. They are filtered out everywhere now, and any that were already saved into a box are cleared the next time you save it.
August 2026: Getting live, without the busywork
No more copying a Box ID
- Leave the Box ID field empty. The Choosebox builder block now shows whichever box is live, so adding it to your theme is just: Add block → Apps → Choosebox builder → Save. No clipboard, no pasting. If you run more than one box and want a specific one on a specific page, fill the field in — that still works exactly as before.
- A setup checklist in the app. Three steps — build a box, make it live, add the block to your theme — each showing whether it’s done. The theme step ticks itself the first time we see your box render on your storefront, so you can tell at a glance whether it’s actually working rather than guessing. It disappears once you’re set up.
- The app proxy path moved to Advanced in the theme editor. It was never a setting anyone should have had to look at.
- A heads-up when more than one box is live. An empty Box ID follows whichever live box you edited most recently — fine with one box, ambiguous with two. Choosebox now tells you the moment a second box goes live, and points you at giving each block its own ID.
August 2026: Plans, simplified
Every feature on every plan
- Tiered “buy more, save more” pricing is now free. It used to be a Pro feature. Every discount type — percentage off, a fixed box price, and tiered — is now available on every plan.
- Free runs one live box. You can still build as many boxes as you like and switch which one is live from the Boxes list. Pro runs as many at once as you want.
- A clearer monthly limit. Past 25 box orders in a calendar month on Free, the builder pauses on your storefront until the count resets on the 1st. Your product pages are otherwise untouched, you keep full access to the editor the whole time, and Choosebox warns you in-app from 20 orders on. Previously the limit locked the editor instead — which stopped you fixing your store at exactly the wrong moment.
July 2026: Easier setup & preview
See your box before it goes live
- Box preview in the editor. Click products right in the editor to build a sample box and watch the item count and discounted total update live — so you can check the whole thing before it’s live on your store.
- “Try a sample box” button. Brand-new to Choosebox? One click builds a ready-made example box from your own products, so you can see how it works in seconds, then customize or delete it.
July 2026: Plans & billing
Clearer Pro plan
- The 7-day free trial now shows right on the Plans page, and upgrading (or cancelling) is smoother. Compliance and your live boxes are never affected by a plan change.
